An ApplicationTheir sin was great, but God's love was (is) greater (1SA 12:20,22). It's amazing how patient God is with us humans, including you and me. 1SA 12:13-15 is a great example of how God is not a micromanager. He wants to be honored as our king, but even when we rejected Him, He showed His love for us and didn't change His expectations. / 1SA 12:21 is a great honest succinct warning.

Connect the Dots1SA 12:2 is slightly odd after 1SA 8:3. / Samuel's 1SA 12 is very similar to Moses's DT 6. Samuel is basically quoting Moses a few times (compare 1SA 12:13-15 to DT 6:4-6 and 1SA 12:24-25 to DT 6:14-15). Samuel was reminding them their situation has changed but not their relationship with God. (Jesus will also quote DT 6:4-5 for a similar reason in MK 12:28-30.)
